Aledo senior Cheyenne Knight shot a one-over-par 73 on Tuesday for a 36-hole total of 143 to win the girls' Class 5A individual championship by one stroke over Frisco Wakeland's Brielle Ward.

Hale allowed just three base runners - on a pair of walks and an error - and retired the side in order in five of seven innings, including the seventh where he recorded two of his nine stikeouts.

Aledo senior pitcher Ashton Adkins, in her first district start in the circle, fired a no hitter to lead the Ladycats to a 13-0 victory over the Granbury Lady Pirates Tuesday night in a district contest at Granbury.
The win raises the Ladycats' district mark to a sparkling 13-0, while Granbury falls to 3-10.
Adkins, normally the starting right fielder, pitched to the minimum 15 batters in a game stopped after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
She allowed just one base runner - on an error - but that runner was put out on a double play when shortstop Allie Arneson fielded a ground ball, stepped on the second base bag and threw to first base to complete a double play.
Adkins finished with two strikeouts.
Aledo senior pitcher Lauren Craine allowed one hit while striking out seven with no walks, and junior Kadyn Kirkpatrick went four for four at the plate to lead the state-ranked No. 1 Ladycats to a 10-0 victory over Burleson Tuesday night in a District 8-5A game at the AHS softball field.
The game was called on the 10-run mercy rule after Kirkpatrick scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Kirkpatrick nearly hit for the cycle as she smashed a double, triple and a pair of singles.
The win raises the Ladycats' district mark to 12-0. Aledo will continue district play at 7 p.m. Tuesday (April 21) at Granbury.
Allie Arneson recorded three hits, including two doubles, and Alli Ramsey finished with a pair of base hits.

The Aledo Bearcats earned gold medals in two relays on their way to capturing the boys’ District 8-5A Track and Field Meet Thursday at Burleson High School.
The Ladycats took a gold and a silver in relays on their way to a second-place overall finish.
Both teams qualified many athletes for next week’s area track meet.
The top four finishers in each event at the district meet qualify for the area meet.

The area meet will be Wednesday and Thursday, April 22-23, at Joshua High School.

Shooting a second-round team score of 316, the Aledo Bearcats finished with a 36-hole total of 645 which was good enough - by a single stroke - to capture third place Thursday afternoon at the boys' Class 5A, Region I golf tournament and seal the final state-qualifying spot.
The Bearcats will join the regional-champion Ladycats at the 5A state golf tournament, which will be played April 27-28 in Bastrop.
Sam Shryoc (80-76) and Parker Scaling (77-81)each shot 156 to lead the 'Cats.
Other Bearcats totals include Steven Shurtz with a 157 (80-77), Matt James with a 169 (87-82) and Andrew Lane with a 172 (82-90).
