For the Aledo Ladycats, the volleyball season may just be getting started. After cruising to their second straight undefeated season, they will face tougher competition Friday when they play a warm-up game against 5A powerhouse Coppell at the Don R. Daniel Ninth Grade Center before facing Western Hills in bi-district action Tuesday, Nov. 1 at the Wilkerson/Greines Fort Worth Activity Center. Both matches begin at 6:30 p.m.

Texas football legend Ken Hall visited Aledo High School today through a special arrangement with The Community News.
Hall, who still holds the national high school career yardage record, recently had a couple of his Texas records eclipsed by Aledo High School running back Johnathan Gray.
Hall came to Aledo to congratulate Gray for breaking his 58-year-old career scoring record during the Aledo-Timber Creek game on Sept. 22. (Click here for video of Gray's record-breaking touchdown.)
After a quiet meeting between Gray and Hall in Aledo head coach Tim Buchanan's office, Hall spoke to the Aledo football team before they went out to practice.
High school football legend Ken Hall spoke to Aledo High School football players before practice on Tuesday, Oct. 25. Hall still holds the high school career yardage record nationally, but Aledo's Johnathan Gray recently broke Hall's Texas career scoring record.

Schedules for Aledo freshman football games this week have changed. The Freshman Black team will play at Birdville High School at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28. The Freshman Orange team will play at Birdville at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28. The JV Orange team will play Birdville at home at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28.
The JV Black team is still scheduled to play at Prosper High School at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26.
This week's varsity football game between Aledo and Birdville will be 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27 at Birdville ISD Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPNU.

Aledo High School swimming teams had good outings last weekend at the Western Hills High School Relays. The Lady Swimcats placed first, and the boys’ team placed second.
The girls outpaced host Western Hills by a point tally of 448-404. Other teams in the top five included Lovejoy High School with 348, North Crowley with 240 and Arlington Heights with 94.
Western Hills topped the boys 510-348. Other top-five schools were Lovejoy High School with 260, North Crowley with 182 and Arlington Heights with 32.
The next swimming meet will be the Halloween Relays at J. J. Pearce Natatorium in Richardson.

The Aledo volleyball teams continued to roll over district opponents with wins over Keller Timber Creek on Tuesday, Oct. 18. The JV lost the first game 16-25, but came back to win 25-18, 25-15.
Aledo's varsity won 25-18, 25-13, 25-13.

Trinity Christian Academy defeated district rival Nazarene Christian Academy 54-44 Friday, Oct. 14 at Aledo Middle School Stadium. Eagle Greg Lanier set a school single-game record for tackles with 28. More information can be found in the Oct. 21 issue of The Community News.
Aledo wins the toss and will receive at the north end.
A 1st down on a 13 yard run gets this drive started off right. The big play follows on a 64 yard swing pass and run to Preston Bartley to the Boswell 4 yard line. Johnathan Gray takes it in from there and the Bearcats lead 7-0 after the Nevarez PAT.
Boswell returns the ensuing kickoff to their 17 yard line and fumbles on the first play. Aledo has another chance.
Matt Bishop has a nice run, then Gray scores again and now Aledo is up 14-0 with just over a minute gone in the game.
Boswell has a nice return to the Aledo 43 yard line and will start from there. An interception by Aledo's Dayne Davis gets Aledo the ball back.
Aledo scores on a Johnathan Gray touchdown on 3rd and 19 from the Boswell 40 yard line. PAT is good, Aledo 21-0, still in the 1st quarter, aided by two turnovers forced by the defense.

Jonny Carter returns the kickoff to the 31 yard line. On the next play Johnathan Gray breaks a couple of tackles then outruns the defense for a 69 yard touchdown. 28- 3 Aledo.
A sack by Jaylen Hill on 3rd down forces Boswell to punt. Aledo takes over. A series of offensive penalties slows down Aledo's offense. A 3rd and long results in a touchdown pass to Michael Mann from the 42 yard line. Aledo leads 35-3.
Varsity volleyball team defeats nemesis to remain undefeated in district

The Aledo Ladycats remained unbeaten in district play Friday night by defeating main rival Byron Nelson at Aledo High School. The Ladycats previously defeated the Bobcats at Byron Nelson during the first half of district.
Friday's scores were 25-18, 25-12, 25-16.
