Season tickets available the first day of school

The Aledo ISD has announced that season tickets can be picked up the first day of school (Aug. 23) at the Bearcat Store in the Administration Building, 1008 Bailey Ranch Road in Aledo.

Aledo Bearcats linemen run through drills Tuesday morning during a special teams session at Bearcat Stadium. Aledo will work out on Wednesday and Thursday in shorts and helmets (per UIL rule) before putting on the pads for the first time in 2010 on Friday. The freshman, junior varsity and varsity teams will scrimmage Saturday (Aug. 14) at either Bearcat Stadium or the practice field. The freshman scrimmage begins at 8 a.m., JV will start at 8:30 a.m. and the varsity will take the field at 9:30 a.m.

Ladycats split season-opening matches at Waco Midway

The Aledo Ladycats swept their afternoon match against Granbury but fell in the nightcap against Waco Midway Monday (Aug. 9) in season-opening matches at Midway High School.

The Ladycats swept Granbury, 25-12, 26-24 and 25-23. Game two was finished off by a kill from senior outside hitter Lindsey Baird, and the clinching game three was closed out by a kill from senior outside hitter Christa Daniel.

Ladycats begin grueling first-week workout schedule with mile run

The 2010 Aledo Ladycats volleyball team will begin August two-a-day workouts on Monday, Aug. 2 with the "Going's Mile" run at 7:30 a.m. at Bearcat Stadium.

Each Ladycat is required to run a mile in eight minutes or less or she will not be able to practice. Last season, every varsity Ladycat ran the mile in less than eight minutes.
