Bearcats in Finals of soccer tournament

The Aledo Bearcats soccer team will play against Granbury in the finals of the Moritz Tournament of Champions today (Saturday) at 6 p.m. In Bearcat Stadium.

Aledo takes second in Moritz Holiday Tournament

Inspired post play by Pierce Gentry and clutch three-pointers by Taylor Johnson were not quite enough to lift the Aledo Bearcats past the Brewer Bears in the championship game of the Moritz Holiday Classic basketball tournament held in Aledo this week

Aledo fell in the final game 56-53 on Wednesday night to take a second place trophy in its home tournament.

Bearcats headed for championship game

The Aledo Bearcats defeated Burleson Centennial 67-61 to earn a spot in the finals of the Moritz Holiday Classic at Aledo on Wednesday afternoon. The 'Cats will play Brewer for the championship at 6:30 p.m.

Time changes for Holiday Tournament

Two time changes have been announced for the Moritz Holiday Classic basketball tournament in Aledo.

The third-place game will be played at 4:30 p.m. and the championship game will be at 6 p.m.

Off to a good start

Three pointers were falling in the Aledo Bearcats' 65-38 win over South Hills in the opening round of the Moritz Invitational in Aledo on Dec. 27. The video shows three-pointers by Kyle Gromann and Taylor Johnson.

The Bearcats will play Centennial in the second round of the tournament at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28 in the Aledo High School gym.

Ladycats win at Keller

The Aledo Ladycats defeated Keller Timber Creek 57-39 Tuesday night on the road. Timber Creek was picked to win district, but the Ladycats didn't seem fazed by the pick. The Bearcats lost their district opener 64-51.

Bearcats win state ... Again!

Randy Keck/The Community News: Players for the Aledo Bearcats hold up the state championship trophy after their third consecutive 4A Division II state championship Saturday at Cowboys Stadium.

The Aledo Bearcats defeated the Manvel Mavericks 49-28 to capture their third consecutive 4A Division II State Championship at Cowboys Stadium in Saturday.

Jaylen Hill was named Defensive MVP, and quarterback Matt Bishop received Offensive Player of the Game honors.

Game Recap

Caleb Frysinger returns the opening kickoff out to the Aledo 42 yard line.

The Bearcats are unable to move the ball and are forced to punt. Manvel will operate from their 38 yard line.

The Aledo defense holds, and the offense will work from the 21 yard line this time. Two first downs have moved the ball out to the 44 yard line. A third and three is converted, first and 10 Bearcats

On 1st down a Matt Bishop to Willie Gibson pass is good for 6 and the PAT is good. Aledo 7 Manvel 0 with 5:37 left in the first quarter.

The Mavericks are held on the next series, but get off a beautiful punt to get the Bearcats started inside their own 10 yard line.

A Pate Davis from Matt Bishop completion gives Aledo a 1st down. A penalty on the Manvel defense will give Aledo the ball at their 46. A crossing pattern is a completion to Johnathan Gray for a Bearcat 1st down at the Manvel 39 as the first quarter ends.

Bearcat Sendoff set for Saturday

The Aledo Athletic Booster Club will have a sendoff for the Bearcats as they leave Aledo for Cowboys Stadium on Saturday morning.

Bearcat fans are asked to line Bailey Ranch Road and FM 1187 (as safety permits) from Bailey Ranch to FM 1187 to cheer for the team as it leaves Aledo High School about 8:30 a.m.
