Aledo to face Lake Dallas in bi-district playoffs
Boswell scored eight unanswered runs on its way to an 8-3 win over the Aledo Bearcats Saturday night in a District 6-4A second-place tiebreaker game at Saginaw High School.
The Bearcats will assume the district's third seed and play Lake Dallas - the second seed from District 5-4A - next week in a best-of-three bi-district playoff series. Bi-district playoffs begin on Thursday, May 6.

Little Elm senior Nicole Story's two-RBI double in the sixth inning proved to be the winning hit and lifted the Lobos to a 3-1 victory over the Aledo Ladycats Saturday afternoon in game two of the best-of-three bi-district playoff series at Ladycat Field.
The win, coupled with the Lobos' 3-0 win over Aledo on Friday night, gives Little Elm the series as the Lobos will advance to the area round.
Nils Smith rips walk-off, game winning hit in 7th
Aledo senior Nils Smith ripped a line-drive single to center field to drive in Rylan Riney with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Bearcats to a 5-4 victory over Birdville Friday night in a District 6-4A contest on Senior Night at Bearcat Field.
The win gives the Bearcats an 11-3 mark in district play. AHS is tied with Boswell as the Pioneers slipped past Brewer tonight to also end its season at 11-3.
The Bearcats and Boswell will play at 7 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday, May 1) at Saginaw in a second-place tiebreaker game. Both teams have qualified for the Class 4A playoffs.
The Aledo win completes a sweep of district-champion Birdville (12-2).

Bearcats win third in a row 10-2 at Mineral Wells
Coming back from a 1-2 start in District 6-4A action, the Aledo Ladycats completed district play by winning their 11th game in a row to clinch a share of the district championship after a 12-0 victory over Mineral Wells Friday night (April 23) at Mineral Wells.
The win gives the Ladycats a 12-2 district mark and 19-10 record overall. The Ladycats will share the district title with Birdville. The Lady Hawks defeated Brewer tonight to raise its 6-4A record to 12-2.
Brann strikes out nine in Ladycats' 13-0 win over Lady Riders
Aledo senior pitcher Austin Vassberg limited Saginaw to just three hits while striking out three with one walk to lead the Bearcats to a 14-1 win over Saginaw Wednesday night in a District 6-4A contest at Saginaw.
The win raises the Bearcats' district record to 9-3. AHS will play next at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 23, at Mineral Wells.
Before Vassberg ever touched the mound the Bearcats gave the lefty a double-digit lead as Aledo scored 11 runs in the top of the first inning.
The Bearcats sent up 15 batters in the opening frame and swatted six hits and patiently worked four walks. All nine players in the batting order scored in the inning, with Lawton Rinker and Rylan Riney scoring twice.

The win - Aledo's ninth in a row - raises the Ladycats' 6-4A mark to 10-2. AHS will continue district play at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, at Saginaw.
Simpson allowed no runs on no hits with three walks and nine strikeouts in a game called in the bottom of the sixth on run rule.
After issuing a pair of walks in the first inning, Simpson retired the next 16 batters. She ended three innings with strikeouts, including the final frame.
Ladycats shoot 351 to finish in 4th place at regional tournament
Coming into Tuesday's final round at the Region I golf tournament in San Angelo, the Aledo Bearcats needed to make up two strokes to have a chance to be one of two qualifiers for the Class 4A state tournament.
However, after shooting 306 in the opening round, the Bearcats came back today at Quicksand Golf Course and finished with a 313 in the second round for a 36-hole total of 619 that left them in third place behind runner-up Arlington Heights (614) and tournament-winner Wolfforth Frenship (597). Both Heights and Frenship will advance to the state tournament in Austin.
Aledo team of Baker/Odders fall to Aledo's Dedeke/Kite in consolation final; Dedeke/Kite drop play-in match
Both Aledo Bearcats boys doubles teams dropped semifinal matches this morning (Tuesday, April 20) at the Region I tennis tournament in San Angelo.
Ryan Hocke and Maxx Jeffers of Abilene Cooper defeated Aledo's Taylor Baker and Ryan Odders, 6-1, 6-2, while Adam Dockery and Eric Levitt of Wichita Falls High School defeated Taylor Dedeke and Sam Kite of Aledo, 6-1, 6-1.
Baker/Odders faced Dedeke/Kite in the consolation finals later today, with Dedeke/Kite defeating Baker/Odders, 6-4, 6-3.
Dedeke and Kite had a chance to qualify for the state tournament with play-in match against top seed Ryan Hocke/Maxx Jeffers of Abilene Cooper.
