Jones pours in 26 to lead Aledo Ladycats to 65-48 district-opening win over Granbury

Aledo senior guard Alexus Jones scored a game-high 26 points, Cameron Huddleston added 16 and post Madison Brown recorded a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Ladycats to a 65-48 victory over Granbury Tuesday night in the girls' basketball District 8-5A opener at the AHS gym.

Ladycats open District 8-5A play today at home against rival Granbury; Meet The Ladycats event at 4:45 p.m.

The Aledo Ladycats will open the District 8-5A girls' basketball season today against rival Granbury at the Aledo High School gym.

The varsity game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the AHS gym. The freshman and junior varsity games will begin at 5 p.m.

Prior to the varsity contest the Ladycats will hold a "Meet The Ladycats" event at the gym entrance from 4:45--5:45 p.m.

Free autographed posters, mini basketballs and T-shirts will be given away, and the Ladycats will be on hand for autographs and selfies.

Two early third-quarter scores help Bearcats past Canyon Randall, 28-14, as Aledo advances to state semifinals

Bridges added a 75-yard touchdown run in the second half.

Entering the second half of a Class 5A, Division I state quarterfinal game Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, the state-ranked No. 4 Aledo Bearcats led Canyon Randall just 14-7 but would receive the ball to begin the third quarter.

Jones, Huddleston lead Ladycats past Springtown, 66-33

Aledo senior guard Alexus Jones scored a game-high 22 points and junior guard Cameron Huddleston added 16 to lead the Ladycats to a 66-33 victory over Springtown in a girls' non-district basketball game Tuesday night at the AHS gym.

The win raises the Ladycats record to 6-4, while Springtown falls to 0-8.

Parker County schools collide as Ladycats host Springtown today in non-district hoops action

The Aledo Ladycats will continue non-district basketball play at 6:30 p.m. today at home against Springtown in a clash of Parker County schools.

The freshman and JV games will tip off at 5 p.m.

The Ladycats (5-4) are coming off a 61-43 road win over Fort Worth Nolan Catholic but have been idle for the past week.

Springtown (0-7) is coming off a loss to Peaster and has also been idle for the past week.

No. 4 Bearcats advance after 33-0 victory over Abilene Cooper

Complete domination.

It was impossible to identify the best of the two Aledo units Friday night in a driving rainstorm where the state-rankled No. 4 Bearcats dominated Abilene Cooper, 33-0, in a Class 5A, Division I, regional contest at Bearcat Stadium.

The win advances the Bearcats (12-1) to the state quarterfinals.

Aledo senior guard Alexus Jones scored a game-high 30 points and senior post Rebekah Hissam added 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Ladycats outlasted Fort Worth Nolan Catholic, 61-43, Tuesday night at Nolan.

The win raises the Ladycats' record to 5-4.

Also in Aledo High School basketball, the Bearcats lost at Keller Timber Creek Tuesday afternoon to fall to 2-1 overall.

Four Bearcats reach double figures in Aledo's 57-52 victory over Southwest

Aledo junior post Cam Caldwell goes up strong to the basket Saturday afternoon during the Bearcats' 57-52 victory over Southwest at the AHS gym. Caldwell scored 18 points and pulled down nine rebounds.

Cam Caldwell scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds and three other Bearcats reached double figures in scoring in Aledo's 57-52 home-opening win over Fort Worth Southwest Saturday afternoon at the AHS gym.

The win raises the Bearcats' record to 2-0.

The Bearcats held Southwest to just eight points in the fourth quarter, a statistic new Bearcats head coach Fred Jones felt won the game for his team.
