The 42nd Annual Aledo Lions Club Youth Basketball Signups/Tryouts are this Sunday (Nov. 10) from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Aledo Middle School. To be eligible to play, all players must attend the tryout during their registration. Registration is open to all current first through eight graders. The cost is $100 per player. Coaches are needed. The Aledo Ladycats completed their district schedule Tuesday night tied with Granbury for first place atop District 7-4A. A coin toss gave Aledo the first-place seed, and the Ladycats will play Joshua at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 in Glen Rose.
Aledo was scheduled to play Coppell in a warm-up match on Friday, but Coppell canceled because they had played their maximum allotted number of matches.

Trinity Christian Academy will host the Texas Christian Athletic Federation State Varsity and Junior Varsity Regional Volleyball Tournament this weekend, Oct. 25-26. All games will be held in the Barber Gymnasium on the TCA campus in Willow Park. Twelve schools in the league are participating in the tournament in both the Regional Junior Varsity and State Division I and II Varsity levels, including TCA’s varsity squad.
TCA’s Varsity team defeated Lucas Christian last Thursday night in the TCAF playoffs to advance to the state tournament. The Varsity Lady Eagles will open tournament play on Friday night at 6:15 pm against Nazarene Christian.
Athletic Director Patti Hale and Varsity Coach Jessica Sims are looking forward to welcoming the teams, their coaches, parents and all area volleyball fans to the Barber Gym and to east Parker County this weekend.

CORRECTION: It has come to our attention that Chance Nevarez did not break the national consecutive point-after-touchdown record tonight. The kicker at Southlake Carroll has 172, but missed a couple of weeks ago, so Chance is still in the running for the title this season.
