Soccer bi-district playoffs set

Soccer bi-district playoffs have been set for the Aledo Bearcats and Ladycats.

Bearcats
Aledo vs. Birdville at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 26 at Northwest ISD Stadium. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Ladycats
Aledo at Lake Dallas at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 26 at Lake Dallas High School Stadium. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Season Ticket Deadline is Today

Tuesday, March 5, is the final date to renew 2013 season football tickets and/or 2013 reserved parking for Aledo Bearcat football.

If you have not yet been to the Bearcat Store to renew your tickets, be sure to enter the front (south-facing) doors of the Aledo ISD Administration Building. New security procedures require visitors to sign in at the front desk before proceeding to Bearcat Store.

March 23 is the annual Season Ticket Holder Exchange. Renewal forms and money must be received by March 5 if you plan to participate in the exchange event. If you are unable to attend on March 23, a proxy authorized by you in writing is acceptable.

Tickets on sale for state basketball tournament

Tickets for the 4A state semifinal basketball game between Aledo and Dallas Lincoln are now on sale at Aledo High School's main office. The game will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 at the Frank Erwin Center on the University of Texas campus in Austin. Pre-sell tickets are $10. (They will be $12 in Austin.) A limited number of tickets is available locally.

See photos and news from the regional tournament in Canyon in the March 1 issue of The Community News. Game updates from the state tournament will be available at www.community-news.com as the state tournament progresses. In addition, the games will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest.

The Aledo Ladycats defeated Hanks 50-48 on Saturday, earning a trip to the state basketball championship in Austin next weekend. More details will follow.

Ladycats heading to regional championship game

The Aledo Ladycats defeated ninth-ranked Canyon 54-31 on Friday night to earn the chance to go to the state tournament.

The 'Cats will play Hanks tomorrow (Saturday) at 2 p.m. at The Coliseum in Snyder, Texas. The winner of that game will travel to Austin next weekend for the state girls tournament.

Happy Sendoff

Denise Haeussler and daughter Jenna were among supporters who waved goodbye at a sendoff for the Aledo Ladycats basketball team, which left for Snyder this morning to participate in the 4A Regional Basketball Tournament.

This is the first time the Ladycats have qualified for regional since Aledo moved up to the 4A classification.

The Ladycats play Canyon at 6 p.m. The Coliseum in Snyder, Texas. Assuming a win, Aledo will play the winner of the Hanks-Dunbar game at 2 p.m. Saturday at the same venue.

Ladycats heading to Region

The Aledo Ladycats earned a trip to the regional basketball tournament this weekend with a 55-37 regional quarterfinal win over Granbury on Monday night in Glen Rose.

The Ladycats will play at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22 at The Coliseum in Snyder, Texas against the winner of the Canyon – Amarillo Palo Duro game being played Tuesday, Feb. 19 at Canyon Randall High School.
