Weatherford Blooms Home & Garden Fest

The City of Weatherford Main Street Program will host the third annual Weatherford Blooms Home & Garden Fest in Historic Downtown Weatherford from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 27. All four quadrants of the square will be blooming with home and garden vendors, antique tractors, entertainment, food and fun. Any interested vendors should call Kim Thieme, special event coordinator for the City of Weatherford, at 817-598-4034.

Christmas on the Square

Christmas on the SquareChristmas on the Square
The Weatherford Chamber of Commerce will have its annual Christmas on the Square from 12-5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1 on the Historic Weatherford Downtown Square.

Festivities will begin with a parade at 10 a.m. at the Weatherford Ninth Grade Center and make its way up South Main, around the Courthouse, head West on Palo Pinto Street and pass by Cherry Park. Downtown stores will have shopping and treats including hot chocolate, cupcakes, cookies and candy canes. Businesses and organizations will be thanking the community for their support throughout this year by handing out samples and treats and many of the vendors and stores will offer special prices and sales.

Live Ice Sculpting will be a new addition to this year’s festivities. Two live entertainment stages will showcase holiday music and talents. Other activities include free horse-drawn carriage rides, Kids’ Area, mini-train rides and roaming Christmas characters such as the Grinch and Chris-Moose. Also back by popular demand is the Classic Car Show on the Southeast quadrant of the square.

Peach Pedal

The 24th annual Peach Pedal will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 14 at Weatherford High School. Routes options are 100 kilometers, 39 miles, 26 miles and 9 miles. Online registration, maps and other information are available at www.peachpedal.com. The registration fee is $25 by June 30, $30 from July 1 to July 13, and $35 on ride day. Special Meeting

The City of Weatherford will have a Special Meeting of the Transportation Advisory Board at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 24 in the Council Chambers of the Weatherford City Hall, located at 303 Palo Pinto Street. The public is invited to attend. The Board will discuss and receive public input on 2012 Weatherford Transportation Plan.

Exclusive registration for both residents and non-residents of Weatherford will be from 7-9 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at the Harberger Hill Community Building, 701 Narrow Street.

Registration will continue on May 9 at the Recreation Office located at 119 Palo Pinto Street. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. Exclusive registration for City of Weatherford residents iwill be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 6, at the Harberger Hill Community Building, 701 Narrow Street. Residency is defined as persons residing within the municipal boundaries of the City of Weatherford; therefore, proof of residency in the form of a City of Weatherford utility bill and a valid driver’s license is required at the time of registration.

Notice of Temporary Bridge Closure

The bridge at Clear Lake Road/Santa Fe Drive/FM 2552 over Interstate 20 will temporally close at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 17 and re-open to thru traffic by 6:00 a.m. March 18. The temporary closure will re-occur at 8:00 p.m. on March 18 and will re-open to thru traffic by 6:00 a.m. on March 19. In the event of inclement weather, the closure will take place March 18 and 19.

Motorist traveling south on Santa Fe Drive, headed east on I-20 or south on Clear Lake Road will be re-routed via I-20 to South Main Street for a re-direct to their destination. Motorist traveling north on clear Lake Road, headed west on I-20 or north on Santa Fe Drive will be re-routed via I-20 to Bankhead Hwy. for a re-direct.

Home and Garden Festival

Weatherford Blooms Home & Garden Show will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 26 on the downtown square.
