Aledo Baseball Area Championship Series Game 1

The Aledo Bearcats play the Burleson Elks in a three-game Area Championship Series.

Game 1 will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 12 at Burleson High School.

Game 2 will be 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 13 at Aledo.

Game 3, if needed, will be Saturday, May 14 at a time and place to be determined.

Aledo Regional Quarter Final Softball Playoff Game 2

The Aledo Ladycats face the Burleson Lady Elks in the Regional Quarterfinal Playoffs.

Aledo Youth Football and Cheer will hold its first registration from 1-6 p.m. Sunday, May 15 at the Aledo Community Center. The league offers flag football for kindergarten or 4-6 year-olds, and tackle football for 1-6 grades. Financial assistance is available. All players must live in the Aledo ISD boundries or attend a school (including private schools) within the Aledo ISD boundries. No exceptions. Registration has been moved to the Aledo Community Center Saturday, May 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Aledo Football Association, in conjunction with Aledo Lions Club Youth Activities, will sponsor a Youth Football and Cheerleading League for the 2011 season which will play in the long established Fort Worth Southwest YMCA youth football league.

The Weatherford varsity baseball team locked up second-place in district, and will face Odessa Permian in a best-of-three Bi-District playoff series.

Weatherford (29-5 overall, 9-3 in District 4-5A) ended its season Friday with a 14-2 win over Arlington Sam Houston.

The Roos will face Odessa Permian in a best-of-three Bi-District playoff series May 6-7 in Snyder. Friday's game will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by Saturday's matchup at 11 a.m. Game 3, if necessary, will begin 30 minutes after Game 2

Weatherford's Lady Roos varsity softball team, led by senior pitcher Jordan Wallace, won its bi-district playoff game against Odessa, 3-1, Friday in Snyder.

Wallace had 17 strikeouts against Odessa in Friday's game, while her teammates contributed six hits in the contest -- including doubles by senior Ashlyn Wren and sophomore Kelsey Horton.
The Lady Roos will now face El Paso Hanks in a one-game Area Playoff matchup May 6 at Odessa High School (next to Ratliff Stadium) beginning at 6:30 p.m.
