Garden Concert

Kevin Townson and his Latin jazz band
The historic Weatherford Chandor Gardens will host the first annual Sunset Picnic Concert on October 16 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. The event will feature local flamenco/classical guitarist Kevin Townson and his Latin jazz band.
Townson, who directs the Childbloom Guitar Program, has been a professional musician for almost 30 years and has spent most of his life performing throughout North Texas.
Chandor Gardens is located in the historical district in downtown Weatherford at 711 W. Lee Avenue.

Talking Tombstones Tour

The eighth annual “Talking Tombstones Tour” will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Old City Greenwood Cemetery, 300 Front Street in Weatherford. Tours leave every 15 minutes until the last tour at 3 p.m. This year’s tour examines the impact of the War Between the States in Weatherford and outside Weatherford: "Small Town Civility: Weatherford, Texas in 1861 - 1865."

Friends of NRA dinner and auction

Aledo Friends of NRA will hold a dinner and auction at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 at Clear Fork Station in Willow Park. Dinner tickets begin at $30 for adults and $20 for children. Additional dinner and prize packages are available, including chances to win a Remington 1911 .45 ACP pistol. Children will be registered to win a Mossberg 510 Super Mini Bantam Field 20 gauge shotgun. Classmates can attend the game at 7:30 p.m. or meet early at The Point Restaurant (formerly El Campo) on Bomber Road overlooking Lake Worth on Friday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m., or drop by after the game for a the get together. The class will meet for dinner at Spring Creek Barbecue on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m., on Camp Bowie W. at Las Vegas Trail followed by the Brewer Exes’ Social at Lost Creek Golf Club, where Class of '71 will have designated tables. All events will be you-pay-as-you-attend. 10-4 for Hank

The fifth annual 10-4 for Hank will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Fort Worth Police & Firefighters Memorial at 2300 West 7th Street in Fort Worth. Three races will run through Trinity Park: the 10 Mile Race begins at 7:30 a.m. The four-mile race starts at 7:45 a.m. and the one-mile fun run starts at 8 a.m. Proceeds benefit Law Enforcement Officers of Tarrant County. The race is held in honor of Hank Nava, a Fort Worth Police Officer who was fatally injured on Nov. 29, 2005 while serving a parole violation warrant. He died two days later from his injuries. Hank’s widow, Teresa, formed H.A.N.K. (Helping Another Next of Kin) in honor of his memory and all other Tarrant County Police Officers killed in the line of duty.
