A low-cost spay and neuter clinic will be held Monday, June 29 at the Harberger Hill Community Center in Weatherford, by appointment only, by the Texas Coalition for Animal Protection.

Spay fees are $45 for cats, $55 for dogs under 50 pounds and $65 for dogs 50-80 pounds.
Neuter fees are $35 for cats, $55 for smaller dogs and $65 for larger dogs.
Additional charges apply for pain medication, antibiotics, Ecollar (included for male dogs), animals in heat or pregnant and male crypt orchid.
The Palo Pinto County Humane Society will be holding pet adoptions at Pets West, 102 Bearcat Road in Aledo, Saturday, May 23 at 9 a.m. There will be plenty of dogs and puppies available for adoption.
Gracefully Strong, the girls character-building program started last year by Stuard Elementary School counselor Heather Stark, will hold its inaugural fundraiser dinner Thursday, May 14.

The Texas Health Wellness for Life mobile mammography unit will be at Moss Insurance in Aledo Thursday, May 21 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Those eligible for mammography screening include women 35 and older with no personal history of breast cancer, no breast implants, no known breast lumps or other breast problems, not pregnant or having breast fed in the past six months, and not received a mammogram in the past 12 months.
Those without insurance may qualify for a fully-funded screening.
An insurance card and identification should be brought to the screening.
All military veterans and their guests are invited to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War at Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve base Saturday, May 9. Gates open at 8 a.m.
There will be a welcome home ceremony for Vietnam veterans with guest speakers, a POW/MIA tribute wall, classic car show, Vietnam era aircraft and vehicles and more.
A crew of historically-trained Vietnam War re-enactors will offer an educational look at life on a firebase 50 years ago.
Texas Air National Guard’s 136th Air Lift Wing will provide a C-130 Hercules incentive ride to 50 preselected Vietnam War veterans during the event.
Local non-profits will provide a free lunch.

Back the Bearcats 5K returns for its second running Saturday, May 30 in Aledo.
The event – put on by Bearcat Bootcamp – is a chance to get fit and give back by raising money, including scholarships, for Aledo student athletes. A 1-mile Kids Fun Run/Walk is included to promote fun and fitness to the children and families of Aledo.
Little Bearcats will be cheered on by varsity athletes during the 1-Mile Fun Run and be available for autographs after the event. Stick around and enjoy live music, snow cones and food trucks. There will be a raffle to raise even more money including these items: autographed footballs, baseball and softball, autographed football poster, t-shirt quilt, jewelry and more.

The National Vietnam War Museum will host the 6th annual update of its replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Saturday, June 6. The gates will open at 8 a.m. with the ceremony beginning at 10. Thirteen US Army veterans whose names were added to the wall in Washington, D.C. last year will be honored, as well as a special welcome home to three recovered US Air Force MIAs. The guest speaker will be LTG Dan Petrosky (USA Ret.).
A multi-family garage sale will be held Saturday, May 2 from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. at 110 Black Oak Dr. in Deer Creek (Annetta).
Proceeds benefit Boy Scout Troop 1099. items include furniture, baby items, camping equipment, bikes, tools and much more.
