Chamber to host inaugural golf tourney

Slated for May 10 at Split Rail

The East Parker County Chamber of Commerce is teeing up some golf balls and hitting the links with its inaugural golf tournament on Thursday, May 10 at Split Rail Golf Club in Aledo.
The four-man “Florida Scramble” tournament will begin with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
Entry will be $300 per team or $100 per person. The tournament has room for 36 teams or 144 golfers. Thus far, more than 15 teams have registered. There is no deadline to register.

State House congratulates chamber’s service

Honors 10th anniversary

The East Parker County Chamber of Commerce has had quite a week. Not only did the chamber celebrate its 10th anniversary with a banquet last Friday, March 9, handing out awards to community leaders, but it too received a special recognition from the state.
The State House this week honored the chamber with a congratulatory resolution for its decade of service to the community.

If increasing Aledo Independent School District enrollment figures or the number of subdivisions popping up aren’t enough of an indicator of east Parker County’s growth, look no further than the area’s chamber of commerce.
When it first formed 10 years ago, East Parker County Chamber of Commerce had 50 charter members and has since grown to more than 450 today.

Hooper promoted at Weatherford National Bank

Justin HooperJustin Hooper has been promoted to Branch Manager of WNB’s Willow Park banking center, as announced by CEO Doyle Lee last Tuesday.
Hooper will move from his current position at the downtown bank location.
“It is always a pleasure to be able to promote existing officers who have demonstrated their commitment to serving our customers, our community and our company,” Lee said.

The Community News notified of national recognition

General Excellence winner to be announced Oct. 13
The Community News has been notified by the National Newspaper Association that it is a finalist for the 2006 General Excellence award to be presented at the organization’s annual convention Oct. 13 in Oklahoma City.
Last year The Community News placed second in General Excellence in its size category. First place was won by the Sag Harbor, New York Express.
