Both Aledo school bond issues passed in voting Saturday, May 10.
Proposition 1, a bond package of 59,060,000, passed 1315-926,

Proposition 2, a smaller package of $7,965,000, passed 1353-873.

In school board races, incumbent Connie Suchocki was defeated by David Davis 1107-766. In place 7, incumbent Leanne Osgood held off challenger Jay Stringer, 1012-960.

VOTEVoters head to the polls Saturday for a variety of issues, including an alcohol sales option in Hudson Oaks, city council races in Willow Park, A school bond and trustee election in the Aledo ISD, and a mayor’s race and economic development sales tax in Aledo. Voting times Saturday, May 10 are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the following locations:

The Aledo Ladycats' softball team, ranked #1 in state 4-A polls and #3 nationally, will play Sherman for the area championship in a "home-and-home" series beginning Friday, May 2, at 7 p.m. in Sherman. The second game will be Saturday, May 3, at 1 p.m. in Aledo. A third game, if necessary, will be played immediately after the second game on Saturday.

Prices would increase from last bond election

Administrators at the Aledo Independent School District have been at the drawing board for several months since the failure of the November 2007 bond election.

After much deliberation, and reducing needs, the bond proposal presented to the Aledo ISD Board of Trustees came in the form of two propositions for the upcoming May election during a training session last Tuesday.

“Sixty-one percent of the individuals that voted on the bond election did not have students in the district,” Superintendent Don Daniel said. “So we missed our target; we didn’t get our parents out to vote.”
