Water restrictions in Willow Park

City of Willow ParkDue to a wells malfunction, City of Willow Park Public Works Director Lance Petty has issued the stage three water restrictions for the city.

Residents may only water their lawns from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Addresses ending in even numbers may water on Sundays and Thursdays. Addresses ending in odd numbers may water on Saturdays and Wednesdays.

Mayor schedules community forum

Willow Park Mayor Ken Hawkins has scheduled an open forum on Tuesday, Willow Park City HallAug. 24. He plans to explain Willow Park's budget situation, update residents on Stagecoach Trail construction, and to address e-mails that were sent to and from council members during the time the city was negotiating to sell Deer Creek Waterworks. The forum will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Willow Park City Hall.

Emails indicate violation

Ken HawkinsIn an e-mail sent to the members of the Willow Park City Council, obtained by The Community News through a public information request, Hawkins told the entire quorum on June 4, 2009; “I am afraid that we are not yet comparing apples to apples” in regards to the Deer Creek and Dyegard (spelled Digard in the e-mail) water systems.

According to the Texas Open Meetings Act, violations could be a misdemeanor offense punishable by a fine of no less than $100 or no more than $500, confinement in the county jail for not less than one month or more than six months, or both.

Special City Council meeting in Willow Park tonight

The Willow Park City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. tonight at city hall for seven agenda items and mayor's update from Ken Hawkins.

Amongst the number of new business items on tonight's agenda the council will consider assigning another attorney to the city's Planning and Zoning Commission, signage in construction zones, and a weight limit for Ranch House Road.

According to the agenda, Hawkins will have updates on the the city's extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) boundaries and surface water negotiations with the City of Fort Worth.
