Man apprehended following high-speed pursuit

Thomas Douglas Bennett, 52, of White Settlement, was arrested Friday, July 2 after burglarizing an Aledo residence in the 2200 block of FM 5. Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said the suspect was apprehended in Fort Worth after a high-speed vehicle pursuit.
Bennett was spotted by the homeowner as he was leaving the residence. The victim reported that the had stolen a laptop computer, an Xbox, .20 gauge single shot shotgun, set of tools and women’s clothing.
Dominic Genetti/The Community News: The home of Sagers Family burns after being struck by lightning during a thunderstorm last week. Firefighters from Tarrant and Parker counties battled the blaze. No one was hurt. Jessica Sagers, 17, was home at the time of the lightning strike and was able to get the family pets out of the house. The family is currently staying at a Lake Worth hotel until a rental property is found.

In a matter of minutes, Jessica Sagers went from browsing on her computer to rushing out of her house for safety.
Lightning struck the roof of her parents' home in Silver Creek during a passing thunderstorm.

Aledo and Willow Park Firefighters assisted Silver Creek and Azle firefighters in battling a house fire at 117 Rattling Antler in Silver Creek.
Homeowner James Sagers said his daughter, Jessica, was home at the time the fire started at about 4p.m.
Everyone got out safely. The fire is believed to have started from a lightning strike, but Sgt. Connie Good of the Parker County Fire Marshall's office said an investigation has to take place before that becomes official.
The Parker County Soil and Water Conservation District #558 will meet in an open board meeting Wednesday, July 1, 2010, 9:00 a.m. in the Conference Room located in the Agricultural Services Center, 604 North Main St., Suite 100, Weatherford, Texas. The public is invited to attend.
