Special to The Community NewsHudson Oaks Mayor Pat Deen presented the Key to the City to Aledo ISD Superintendent Dan Manning at the regular city council meeting on Jan. 26. The city council was honoring the accomplishments of the Bearcats football team and the student population at AISD.
Deen said the presentation was the first time Hudson Oaks had ever presented the Key to the CIty to anyone.

WHEREAS, the Hudson Oaks community is proud to be part of the Aledo Independent School District, and
WHEREAS, the 2011 Aledo Bearcats football team has achieved tremendous success, winning the Class 4A, Division II State Championship, and
WHEREAS, this is the fourth time in Aledo High School history that the football team has won a state championship, and the third consecutive year in which the Bearcats have done so in Class 4A, and
WHEREAS, throughout the 2011 season, Bearcats players and coaches have performed with character and embodied good sportsmanship, and
WHEREAS, this team includes a significant number of graduating seniors who have been part of an historic era in Aledo’s football program, and
WHEREAS, the entire Hudson Oaks community wants to congratulate the 2011 Aledo Bearcats football team on its proud accomplishments;

One of the hottest, driest summers in history is beginning to take its toll on local water supplies.
All local communities have enacted some form of water restrictions. The latest to join is the City of Aledo, which enacted Stage I of its Drought Contingency Plan effective Friday, July 15.
Willow Park is under Stage IV of its Water Conservation Plan.
Hudson Oaks has been under Stage II of its plan.
Deer Creek is under Stage III.
Hudson Oaks Assistant City Administrator Patrick Lawler pointed out that the area’s rainfall is the lowest in 116 years.
“It’s going to be a true test of the capacity of these systems,” Lawler said. “I would encourage people to please try to conserve water.”

Willow Park
Willow Park voters spoke in a big way Saturday night when they overwhelmingly elected Marvin Glasgow over incumbent mayor Kenneth Hawkins. Glasgow won the election with 88.66 percent of the vote.
In the race for Place 1 on the Willow Park City Council, Richard Neverdousky likewise received the lion's share of votes over Tim Koirtyohann to replace the exiting Barry Tatum. Neverdousky received 489 votes (86.24%) to Koirtyohann's 78 (13.76%).
Gene Martin ran unopposed for Place 2, receiving 418 votes.
Annetta
Annetta Mayor Bruce Pinckard survived a concerted attempt to unseat him, winning over challenger Bruce Moore with 93 votes to Moore's 84.
