New seating at Bearcat Stadium and new thoroughfare dedications at the high school were two agenda items discussed Monday night, April 19, at the Aledo ISD board of trustees regular meeting at the AISD administration building boardroom.
In an effort to help generate more revenue for the district, trustees approved to accept bids for end zone seating at Bearcat Stadium.
Approximately 800 seats will be added to the east side of the stadium to increase capacity to about 9,000. Aledo ISD superintendent Don Daniel said the main reason to add the seating is to attract more playoff games.

The Transfer Station Meeting at the Aledo Community Center is over. Attorneys have set future dates to move forward with the legal proceedings.
Aledo Mayor Kit Marshall and Willow Park Mayor Ken Hawkins have been officially been denied party status, Judge Richard R. Wilfong said.
Party status is when certain witnesses are approved to present things such as evidence and discovery at a later official hearing. Thus far land/property owners near the proposed transfer station site have been granted party status along with the Aledo ISD.

Action saves academic, special programs across district
In a gut-wrenching, emotional decision, Aledo ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved a plan Tuesday morning in a special meeting that lasted an hour and 15 minutes to help ease the budget for the 2010-11 school year that could possibly cut 15 teaching positions and reduce teaching salaries across the board by five percent, but will also save academic and special programs in the district.
The district – which has received a superior financial rating by independent auditors for the past 10 years – needed to make the reductions and adjustments due to a state-mandated cap on maintenance and operations budgets.
Trustees opted for the “Reduction in Force” option for two reasons: To save academic programs and lessen the reduction of teaching positions that could be cut.
The other option – called “financial exigency” – could have cut up to 56.25 teaching positions without the across-the-board salary scale adjustments (reduction) but would have also cut academic and special programs.
