Will Beeson and Amanda Richter finished the district tournament as district champions in mixed doubles today at TCU. They won their first match yesterday 6-0, 6-1 and won today 6-0, 6-0.

Randy Keck/The Community News: Cameron Butterfield jumps into a serve during the district tennis tournament at TCU today. Butterfield and his doubles partner Brian Trussell won their opening match but lost in the second round. The tournament continues tomorrow.

The Aledo Bearcat soccer team fell in the sectional championship contest tonight against Argyle, 4-1. Check the April 8 issue of The Community News for a full write up and game details.
Tonight's baseball games between Aledo and Timber creek have been relocated to Aledo High School. The games were originally scheduled to be played at Timber Creek, but thieves stole the copper wiring from the lighting standards at the school, necessitating a change in location.
The JV will play at 4:30 p.m. and the Varsity will play at 7:30 p.m.
The softball games will be played at Timber Creek as scheduled, with the JV game starting at 5 p.m. and the Varsity game starting at 7 p.m.

The Aledo Bearcats took the Area Championship tonight after winning a shootout following two scoreless overtime periods against Wichita Falls High School at Collins Stadium in Denton.
The regular game ended in a 1-1 tie. After the overtime failed to settle the game, it went to a shootout, where goalie Justin Breshears stopped shot after shot. One of five got past Breshears, but two of Aledo's five shots ended up in the WF net, giving Aledo the victory.
The Ladycats fell 5-1 in their area championship game, also against Wichita Falls High School.
The Bearcats will next face Argyle at a time and place to be determined.

Double-header set Tuesday, March 29
On the strength of a penalty kick by junior Kyle Underwood and a goal by junior Tyler Sacre, the Aledo Bearcats advanced in soccer playoffs against Lake Dallas with a 2-1 win Saturday afternoon.
The win sets up a double-header, with both the Aledo Ladycats and the Aledo Bearcats playing Wichita Falls High School at Collins Stadium in Denton. their respective area championships.
The Ladycats will play at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Bearcats.

Randy Keck/The Community News: The Ladycats celebrate following an overtime goal that broke a scoreless tie with Byron Nelson High School in bi-district action Thursday night, March 24.
A header into the net almost three minutes into the first overtime period gave the Aledo Ladycats a 1-0 bi-district soccer win over Byron Nelson tonight (Thursday, March 24) at Bearcat Stadium in Aledo.
With 7:10 remaining in the first of two 10-minute overtime periods, junior midfielder Ally Swift, on an assist from Stephanie Neeley, headed the ball into the upper portion of the Byron Nelson goal to break a scoring drought on the part of both teams in an intense defensive battle.
Both the Aledo Ladycats and Aledo Bearcats won district in soccer, and the initial round of playoff action has been scheduled.
The Ladycats, 16-4-1, 9-0-1 in district, will host Byron Nelson at Bearcat Stadium at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 24.
The Bearcats, 12-4-4, 9-1-0 in district, will travel to Lake Dallas and play at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 26.
ESPN would call this game an “Instant Classic”. Aledo and Ft. Worth Dunbar are two of the best Class 4A teams in North Texas. Both teams slugged it out in a physical game played at Saginaw High School Tuesday night. Aledo was the last team standing in a dramatic 58-54 come-from-behind victory.
Things looked bleak for Aledo when Destiny Price hit a three for the Lady Wildcats to put Dunbar up by nine 52-43 with only 4:25 left to play in the game.
Senior Logan Mittie went to work in the fourth quarter scoring 11 points on one three-pointer and eight for eight free throw shooting in crunch time. Mittie led all scorers with 26. Mallory Powell added 13 and Alana Martin 10.
