AHS Senior Goderya Selected for All-State Academic Excellence

ALEDO, Texas — May 11, 2010 — Aledo High School senior Mudrekh Goderya has been selected by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals as a member of the TASSP All-State Academic Excellence Team. This prestigious award recognizes Texas high-school seniors for their outstanding academic achievements and the rewards of superior scholarship.

As a member of this team, Goderya will be awarded a $500 scholarship and formally recognized at the TASSP Summer Workshop in Austin on June 10, 2010. He plans to attend the University of Texas at Dallas and major in Physics.

Aledo academic team produces 3 individual, 4 team team championships at Region I meet

One-Act play also advances to state

The Aledo High School UIL academic team had three first-place individual finishes and four teams placing first this past Friday and Saturday (April 23-24) at the Region I UIL academic meet in San Angelo.

Also, AHS had six other individuals and one team qualify for the state meet with second and third place finishes.

AHS' One-Act play (Rimers of Eldritch) advanced to state competition, and Derek Shepherd was selected as the regional meet's 'Best Actor." Earning all-star cast from Aledo were Megan Lyles and Logan Rodgers, with Andrea Millard earning an honorable mention.

Bearcats lose to Midlothian in playoffs...again

The Bearcats lost to Midlothian for the second consecutive year in soccer.

Cancer survivor, team manager got to play at Rangers Ballpark

Tanner Linn, normally the varsity baseball manager at Aledo High, got to suit up and play for the team's game at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington against Midlothian.

The Aledo High School students are scheduled to compete at the State UIL contest in Austin May 29 -31.

Aledo softball postponed until Wednesday; baseball will play at 7 p.m. today

Aledo soccer teams conclude district play at home today

Tonight's (Tuesday, March 9) Aledo Ladycats junior varsity and varsity District 6-4A home openers against Brewer have been postponed due to wet grounds.

The games will be reschedule for tomorrow (Wednesday, March 10) at the Ladycats softball field. The JV game will begin at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity contest at 7 p.m.

Today's varsity District 6-4A baseball opener between the Aledo Bearcats and Brewer Bears - scheduled for 7 p.m. at Bearcat Field - will go on as scheduled.

Not affected by the recent rains are the Aledo Bearcats and Ladycats soccer teams. Both will conclude district action today at Bearcat Stadium against Saginaw.

The boys match will begin at 6 p.m. followed by the girls contest at 8 p.m.

Aledo junior guard Logan Mittie was selected to the Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 4A girls all-state basketball team, it was announced today.

Mittie, the 2010 Most Valuable Player in District 6-4A and a three-time all-district, first-team choice, averaged 19.4 points per game while grabbing 7.3 rebounds, four assists and 4.3 steals per contest.

Five girls from Parker County schools earned TGCA Class 2A all-state honors including Amber and Mandy Makeever of Peaster, and Kamy Cole, Kenisha Harris and Paige Parliament of Brock.
