Denise Haeussler and daughter Jenna were among supporters who waved goodbye at a sendoff for the Aledo Ladycats basketball team, which left for Snyder this morning to participate in the 4A Regional Basketball Tournament.
This is the first time the Ladycats have qualified for regional since Aledo moved up to the 4A classification.
The Ladycats play Canyon at 6 p.m. The Coliseum in Snyder, Texas. Assuming a win, Aledo will play the winner of the Hanks-Dunbar game at 2 p.m. Saturday at the same venue.

From the Aledo ISD
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees is interviewing executive search firms to begin the process of finding a replacement for current Superintendent Dan Manning. Retirement was deemed best for Mr. Manning’s long-term health after surgery in 2012 to remove one of his kidneys. His retirement is effective June 28, 2013.
A decision of the search firm should be reached during the month of March, at which time the superintendent position will be posted. The firm will likely interview AISD staff, students and community members to discern the needs of the district, and to complete a profile of prospective candidates. Subsequent interviewing will occur in the coming months, and a final decision reached before the end of June. This timeline will give the new superintendent time to ready for the 2013-14 school year.
AISD Board President Bobby Rigues said, “One of the greatest responsibilities a school board has involves the hiring of a superintendent of schools. Our district has grown in size to the point that professional guidance in this area is being respected. Once a particular firm is chosen by the board, the overall hiring process will include input from administration, district staff and community representatives. Mr. Manning’s leadership throughout this process is invaluable. We also appreciate his commitment to completing the district’s 2012-13 educational goals.”
Arrests to be made during Warrant Roundup in Hudson Oaks

If you have outstanding fines with the City of Hudson Oaks Municipal Court, your time to pay them is running out. Arrests will be made and unpaid fines will be collected during an upcoming statewide warrant roundup.
The City of Hudson Oaks has 1,643 outstanding warrants valued at $515,905. The city’s Municipal Court and Police Department will join forces with more than 200 law enforcement agencies across the state for the Great Texas Warrant Roundup of 2013.
The Municipal Court staff is working with those who have not paid fines to get their accounts cleared before the Warrant Roundup begins. The Municipal Court is located in Hudson Oaks City Hall at 210 N. Lakeshore Drive, just two blocks north of the intersection of Lakeshore Drive and US 180 (Fort Worth Highway). Regular hours of operation are Monday‐Friday; 8 a.m.‐4:45 p.m.
The Court will also remain open for extended hours on the following days to offer additional opportunities to pay fines and avoid arrest.
Tuesday, Feb. 26: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Saturday, March 2: 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Thursday, March 7: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Once the warrant roundup begins, people with unpaid fines will be arrested.

Five actors will play 39 characters in Mark Brown's comedy adventure adaptation of Jules Verne's "Around the World in 80 Days," at the Alkek Fine Arts Center on the Weatherford College campus Feb. 21-23. Curtain rises at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Admission is free.
Directed by Nancy McVean and produced by special arrangement with the Dramatic Publishing Company of Woodstock, Illinois, the show is WC’s entry in the annual Texas Community College Theatre Festival, which will be held at Lone Star College in Tomball, Texas, later this month.
Based on French author Jules Verne's 1873 novel, the play follows the journey of Phileas Fogg around the world as he tries to beat the clock to win a wager that he can make the trip in 80 days - a huge feat in pre-airplane days.
McVean said the fast-paced production is a physically exhausting play to act in, with no moments to rest.
“The five actors have to be nimble as well as gifted with comic timing, for personality and costume changes come with riotous, breathtaking rapidity. Hats, beards, coats, turbans, genders and accents ricochet around the stage as each character does his turn, then tears off to assume another role, sometimes only for a matter of seconds.”
The Aledo Ladycats earned a trip to the regional basketball tournament this weekend with a 55-37 regional quarterfinal win over Granbury on Monday night in Glen Rose.
The Ladycats will play at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22 at The Coliseum in Snyder, Texas against the winner of the Canyon – Amarillo Palo Duro game being played Tuesday, Feb. 19 at Canyon Randall High School.

The Aledo Ladycats will play Granbury in the third round of basketball playoffs on Monday, Feb. 18t at Glen Rose high school at 7:00 p.m.

FORT WORTH - Even with a No. 14 state ranking and District 7-4A Championship under their belts, the Aledo Ladycats are playing with a chip on their shoulders.
So once again they put the pedal to the metal, beating Saginaw 59-30 in a Class 4A Area Round matchup at Chisholm Trail High School Thursday night.
"As a team, we know what it's like to come and out and lose early in the playoffs, and it doesn't feel good," junior Megan Wood said. "I don't think any of us want to feel like that again, so we go out there with a little chip on our shoulders knowing that we're all going to finish it early in the game and not even have to worry about the end."
After scoring the first 13 points of the game in a 67-48 Bi-District win over Burleson Monday night, Aledo led the Roughriders 13-1 in the first 4 1/2 minutes Thursday. Now they await Friday night's Wichita Falls Rider-Granbury winner for a Regional Quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday.
Sophomore Alyssa Dry led Aledo with 13 points, while senior Mallory Powell scored 10 for the Ladycats (27-7). Sophomore Justis Szczepanski-Beavers finished with eight points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots.
After leading 21-11 after the first quarter, Aledo held Saginaw (23-11) to just four points in the second quarter to lead 33-15 at halftime. Dry scored eight of Aledo's 12 points in the quarter.
The Roughriders had just two field goals in the third quarter as Aledo extended its lead to 20-plus points for good after Powell hit two free throws with 2:26 to play to make it 41-20.
