Aledo starting pitcher Steven Swift struck out 10 batters and right fielder Nathen Fingar swatted three hits and drove in three runs to lead the Bearcats to a 5-2 victory over the Chisholm Trail Rangers in the District 6-5A opener at Tuesday night at the AHS baseball field.

The Bearcats will continue district play at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Chisholm Trail High School.

In six innings, Swift allowed just one earned run on three hits and issued a pair of walks. Chance Roberts came on in the seventh inning in relief, sending the Rangers down in order. He retired the final batter with a strikeout.

Fingar swatted a pair of singles and a two-run triple in a three-for-three effort that also included a sacrifice bunt. Jake Bishop (single, triple) and Max Lucas (two singles) also enjoyed multiple-hit games.

Chisholm Trail scored two runs in the top of the third to take a 2-0 lead. Aledo cut the lead in half in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single from Fingar, and the Bearcats took the lead for good with a pair of runs in the fourth courtesy of Fingar's triple that plated Caden Jarvis and Vaughn Shields, both who reached on walks.

In the fifth frame, an RBI single by Tripp Jones and and fielder's choice off the bat of Jarvis that drove in a run extended the Bearcats' lead to 5-2.

Swift sent down the last 11 batters he faced before making way for Roberts to close out the contest.
