Posted

Lauren Crawford's goal with 10:18 left to play stood as the match winner as the Aledo Ladycats shut out Brewer, 2-0, Friday night in a girls' District 6-5A soccer match at Bear Stadium.

The win raises the second-place Ladycats' record to 9-3, while the Lady Bears fall to 6-5-1.

Crawford's goal came courtesy of a long, towering assist from Reagan Knesek, who led a sprinting Crawford down the right side. Crawford found an opening at the top of the net for a 1-0 lead.

The Ladycats put the game away on a goal with 5:08 remaining in the match. Krista Thrasher sent a corner kick toward the front of the Brewer net, and Hunter Jones elevated and found the back of the net on a header.

Goalkeeper Makenzie Covington turned back four Brewer shots to earn the shutout.
