Soccer Bearcats stay in first place after win over Eaton; Ladycats fall to Lady Eagles

Aledo senior defender Mickey Maloney’s first-half goal stood up as the match-winning goal as the Bearcats defeated the Eaton Eagles, 4-0, Friday night in a boys’ District 6-5A soccer match at Bearcat Stadium on Senior Night.

The win raises the first-place Bearcats’ district record to 8-0-2, while Eaton drops to 2-7-1.

Aledo led 1-0 at the half, but goals by Max Owens, Kyle Maurer and Brandon Wrinkle in the second half put the match away.

Senior goalkeeper Konrad Garbowski earned the shutout for the ‘Cats.

The Bearcats will continue district play at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Azle.

Eaton 2, Ladycats 0

Eaton scored a goal in each half and turned away a late Aledo charge as the Lady Eagles defeated the Ladycats, 2-0, in a girls’ District 6-5A soccer match Friday night at Bearcat Stadium.

The loss drops the Ladycats to 7-3 in district play, while first-place Eaton raises its league mark to 10-0.

The Ladycats will continue district play at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday against Azle at Bearcat Stadium on Senior Night.
