Eaton pitcher Madelyn Wright hit a two-run home run in the top of the seventh and held off an Aledo rally in the bottom of the frame as the Lady Eagles held on to defeat the Ladycats, 7-4, Wednesday night in a District 6-5A softball game at AHS.

The loss drops the Ladycats to 3-1 in district play, while Eaton raises its 6-5A mark to 3-1.

Trailing 5-1, the Ladycats scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut the Lady Eagles' lead to 5-4. The big hit in the inning was a two-run double by Lindsey McElroy. Alana Smith also drove in a run in the sixth with a base hit.

In the top of the seventh, Wright's blast gave the Lady Eagles a three-run cushion, 7-4, before the game moved to the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Ladycats had two runners on base with two outs, but Wright threw a strikeout to end the game.

The Ladycats will continue district play at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Brewer.
