James Harrison

James “Jim” Andrew Alford Harrison, 73, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018, after six years battling cancer. Surrounded by his family, Jim died peacefully in his sleep. Jim was born in Gainesville, Texas, on August 10, 1944. He grew up in Wichita Falls and attended Midwestern State University before joining the Navy. Jim served as an Aid to Admirals Zumwalt, Miller, and Kidd, and was a veteran of the Vietnam war. He initiated and implemented Admiral Zumwalt’s Z-grams. Jim had a “larger-than-life” personality establishing several businesses (including the Kool-Aid® stand in Burleson). Jim was known for his big laugh, positive outlook on life, sense of humor, bargaining skills, antique car collection and hunting interests. Jim was a Christian and shared his love for life with a giving heart and helping hand to all in need. His legacy will live on in many hearts and memories forever. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Lanza Harrison of Aledo; son, Joshua Harrison of Dallas; three sisters, two brothers, five stepchildren, five grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. He is preceded in death by his mother, Zetta Leona McMillion; his father, Andrew Alford Harrison; and his first wife, Pamela Crawford Harrison. Services were scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Ridglea Christian Church in Fort Worth. Private interment will be held at a later date in Forestburg, Texas. In lieu of flowers, Jim would wish donations be used for a child in need or to a children's charity.
