Bearcats belt 10 hits in 13-2 win over Chisholm Trail

Jake Bishop swatted three hits and scored three runs and Hunter Rosson and Nathen Fingar each recorded a pair of hits to lead an Aledo 10-hit attack as the Bearcats cruised past the Chisholm Trail Rangers, 13-2, Thursday night in a District 6-5A baseball game at Chisholm Trail High School.

The contest was called after six innings on run rule.

With the win, the Bearcats sweep the season series over the Rangers and sit in first place in 6-5A with a 2-0 mark. The Bearcats will continue district play at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Saginaw.

Hunter McConathy was the winning pitcher, allowing one earned run on four hits with one walk and three strikeouts in four innings. Briley Rodriguez pitched two shutout innings in relief, allowing no runs on no hits with a walk and a strikeout.

The Bearcats scored two runs in the first inning, four in the third and two in the fourth to take an 8-0 lead. Chisholm Trail scored its two runs in the bottom of the fourth before Aledo increased its lead to 11-2 with three runs in the fifth inning.

The Bearcats added two runs in the sixth for a 13-2 advantage, and Rodriguez, after allowing a lead-off walk, retired the next three Rangers' batters to end the game.

Rosson and Garrison Berkley each drove in two runs to lead the Bearcats. Bishop, Autry Johnson, Fingar and Vaughn Shields each drove in a run. Aledo scored five runs courtesy three Rangers' throwing errors.
