Bearcats end season with loss to Saginaw

Saginaw went on a 15-0 run in the second quarter and never looked back as the Rough Riders ran past the Aledo Bearcats, 65-36, Tuesday night in the boys' District 6-5A basketball finale at the AHS gym.

The Bearcats finish district play with a 3-11 record. The contest was also the final high school basketball game for seniors Noah Arrington, Cameron Yates, Ayden Smith, Hunter Vela and Leo Bell.

Arrington led the Bearcats with 11 points, with Austin Hawkins adding eight.

Also scoring were Smith with seven points, Bell with five, Vela and Reid Dietrich, each with two, and Truen Johnson with one.

Paced by eight points from Arrington, the Bearcats led 11-10 after the first quarter. Saginaw began the second period with 15 unanswered points before Smith drove in for a layup with 2:41 left in the quarter. Saginaw led 32-14 at the break.

Saginaw outscored Aledo 14-9 in the third period to take a 46-23 lead into the fourth quarter.
