Ladycats win fifth consecutive game; Bearcats fall to Brewer

Four Aledo ladies reached double figures in scoring to help the Ladycats to a convincing 69-41 victory over Brewer in a girls' District 6-5A game Tuesday night at Aledo.

The win raises the Ladycats' record to 26-3 overall and 11-1 in district play. The loss drops Brewer to 3-9.

Elizabeth Allanach led the Ladycats with 14 points, with Taylor Morgan adding 13, Janessa Payne pouring in 11 and Riley Sale finishing with 10. Also scoring were Sarah Haeussler with eight points, Reagan Brown with six, Chandler Arnold with four, Haley Herrin with two and Alaina Touchet with one.

Aledo led 20-13 after the first quarter and 32-17 at the half. The Ladycats blew the game open with 23 third-period points to take a 55-30 lead into the fourth quarter.

Brewer 55, Bearcats 37

Brewer went on an 18-7 run in the second quarter on its way to a 55-37 win over the Aledo Bearcats Tuesday night in a boys' District 6-5A contest at Aledo.

The loss drops the Bearcats to 3-7 in 6-5A, while Brewer raises its league mark to 8-2.

The game was tied 12-12 after the first quarter. Brewer's run in the second period gave the Bears a 30-19 halftime lead that stretched to 42-26 as the game moved to the fourth quarter.

Ayden Smith recorded a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Bearcats. Also scoring were Leo Bell, Tre Owens and Austin Hawkins, each with six points, Noah Arrington with five, and Truen Johnson and Hunter Vela, each with two.
