We looked and looked, but no one was there

"We're Here for You" is a periodic and light-hearted look at why we feel The Community News is your best choice for local news.

Here at The Community News, we feel it is important to keep our readers informed when local government bodies meet to deliberate, spend tax dollars and set policy. So when the Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met in a marathon session on Monday night, our reporter was there until the bitter end - about 11 p.m.

Now, most likely, you'll see a report on the meeting in our competition. That's interesting since The Community News' Rosealee Hoffman was the only news media represented at the meeting.

So, when the "free paper" arrives in your mailbox next week, you can read a report that was written by an "empty chair." Or, this week, you can read a detailed report written by a real, live reporter who was at the meeting.

Will you have to pay for it? Yep. Because our reporters love to bring you the news. But they don't do it for free!

Good journalism is worth paying for! Subscribe to The Community News. Or pick up a copy Thursday afternoon, and read all about your school board.
