Former Aledo all-state and current Texas A&M sophomore third baseman Riley Sartain was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I All-American third team, it was announced Wednesday afternoon in Oklahoma City.

Sartain and the No. 9 Texas A&M Aggies (47-11) are in Oklahoma City preparing for tomorrow’s Women’s College World Series opener against No. 1 Florida (55-8). The game will begin at 11 a.m. and is being televised live nationally on ESPN.

The Aggies reached the WCWS after defeating Tennessee, 5-3, in the third and deciding game of an NCAA Super Regional series. Sartain recorded what proved to be the game-winning hit as she blasted a three-run home run to bring the Aggies back from a 3-1 deficit.

Sartain leads A&M with a .354 batting average and is second on the team in home runs with 12 and hits with 56. She also leads the Aggies with 48 RBI. She has posted a .961 fielding percentage, having committed just six errors in 103 attempts.

Sartain was a two-time, first-team all-state third baseman at Aledo, where she helped the Ladycats to back-to-back state championships in 2014 and 2015.
