Defending state-champion Aledo Bearcats complete first day of spring practices

Posted

Completing the first of 16 scheduled spring football practices, the defending state-champion Aledo Bearcats are back to work on the gridiron in preparation of defending their state title.

This afternoon’s workout at Bearcat Stadium was held under perfect weather conditions with a slight breeze. Due to testing, like today’s practice, tomorrow’s workout will be held in the afternoon (4:05 p.m.). The remainder of the 14 workouts, including the spring game, are scheduled for mornings.

Bearcats head coach Steve Wood enjoyed the attitude, hustle and spirit of his players during today’s practice.

“This week (at practice) is like every practice we hold– when we walk off the field each day we want to know that we became better,” Wood said. “We have a lot of young kids out there, and we have some battles for positions.

“The kids have been busting their tails hard in the off-season and they were excited today to get out there and play a little football. Spring football practice is about bringing your best concerning your attitude and effort, and the kids did that today and we expect that out of them every day.”

The third practice this week will be at 7:20 a.m. Friday at Bearcat Stadium.
