Brown fires one-hitter to lead Bearcats to 1-0 win over Grapevine to square series; deciding Game 3 Saturday

Aledo senior pitcher Kannon Brown allowed only one hit to lead the Bearcats to a 1-0 victory over Grapevine Friday night at Brewer High School to square the best-of-three regional quarterfinals series at a game apiece.

The third and deciding game will be played at 1 p.m. Saturday at Brewer.

"Kannon had all three of his pitches working well," Bearcats head coach Chad Barry said. "His fast ball was strong, and his curve ball and change up were working well. He induced several fly outs and ground outs. He pitched a great game and has given us a chance to advance with a win tomorrow."

The lone Grapevine hit was an infield hit.

The Bearcats scored the only run Brown would need in the top of the second inning.

Garrison Berkley was hit by a pitch and he advanced to second base after a sacrifice bunt from Vaughn Shields. Berkley advanced to third base after a base hit from Caden Jarvis and scored a batter later on a fielder's choice ground out off the bat of Hunter Rosson.

Brown shut down Grapevine the rest of the way to seal the win.
