Aledo junior left fielder Lindsey McElroy swatted a game-high three hits, including a solo home run, to lead the Ladycats to a 7-3 victory over Saginaw Friday night in a District 6-5A softball game at Aledo High School.

The win evens the Ladycats' district record to 1-1. Aledo will continue district play at 6:30 p.m. Monday at home against Azle.

Hannah Andrews was the winning pitcher. The senior struck out five and issued only one walk.

Trailing 2-0, the Ladycats scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 3-2 lead.

Bailee Whitener drove in two runs with a towering double, and she was plated when the next batter, Macy Hale, ripped a double. Mykayla Stroud and Andrews had scored on Whitener's two-base hit.

Aledo added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth to stretch their lead to 6-2.

Gracie King led off with a single and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. She scored a batter later when McElroy singled. McElroy was driven in by a triple from Stroud, and Stroud scored when Megan Reynolds drove her in on a ground ball for a 6-2 advantage.

The Ladycats extended their lead to 7-2 when McElroy sent a blast over the center-field fence for a solo home run.

Saginaw hit a home run in the seventh inning to close the scoring.
