Brock went on a 12-4 run in the final half of the fourth quarter to come from behind and defeat the Aledo Ladycats, 40-35, Friday afternoon in the semifinals of the Ladycat Invitational 2016 at the Aledo High School gym.

The Ladycats will play for third place at 11:30 a.m. Saturday against Arlington Seguin.

Early in the fourth quarter Aledo went on a 7-0 run to take a 31-28 lead. Freshman post Janessa Payne dropped a pair of three-point buckets in the run, which was supplemented with a free throw by freshman guard Riley Sale. Payne scored a game-high 17 points.

Brock turned on its defensive pressure and held Aledo scoreless for the next 3:20. The Lady Eagles scored six unanswered points - courtesy of a pair of free throws each from Rylee Lavender and Reanna White and a field goal from Lavender - to take a 34-31 lead.

The Ladycats cut the lead to one point when Hannah Adrion sent a pass down low to post Sarah Haeussler for a bucket, but Brock followed with a basket from Lavender for a 36-33 advantage.

With 1:45 remaining Sale found Payne for a layup, but Brock went on a 4-0 run to seal the win and advance to the championship game where they will face Dallas Home School Athletic Association at 2 p.m. at the AHS gym.

Also scoring for the Ladycats were Haeussler with 11 points, Sale with three, Chloe Mefford with two, and Taylor Morgan and Adrion, each with one.
