Bishop scores 18 to lead Bearcats past Stephenville, 45-36

Aledo freshman guard Jake Bishop scored 18 points and senior post Cam Caldwell grabbed 12 rebounds as the pair helped the Bearcats to a 45-36 victory over the Stephenville Yellow Jackets Tuesday night in non-district hoops action at the AHS gym.

The win raises the Bearcats' record to 2-6.

Bishop sent down a pair of three pointers, and Caldwell added four points. Also scoring for the Bearcats were Jake Hawkins with eight points, Tre Owens with seven, Cameron Yates with four, and Bryce Lancarte and Ayden Smith, each with two. Smith also pulled down six rebounds.

Stepehenville took an 8-6 lead after the opening period, but the Bearcats, behind seven points from Bishop, scored 17 points in the second quarter while holding the Jackets to seven to take a 23-15 lead at the half. The Bearcats outscored Stephenville 13-11 in the third period to take a 36-26 lead into the fourth quarter.

Aledo swept sub-varsity action as the junior varsity won 59-34 and the freshman team strolled to a 76-25 victory.
