Last week Aledo freshman
running back Jase McClellan “announced his presence with authority” on the
Bearcat offense. The freshman had 225 yards rushing on 30 carries and 1
touchdown. Jase had 10 straight carries on Aledo’s 1st drive of the
4th quarter that sealed the game for the Bearcats.
Aledo’s defense isn’t too
bad either. Over 15 games they are allowing 18 per game but the Bearcat offense
is averaging an incredible 57 points a game. You can give up a little more when
you score a lot more. The defensive stats are mind blowing! 51 sacks with 20
interceptions. The defense played a huge part in last week’s win. Although
Aledo had a slim 21-14 lead at halftime, they shut Poteet out in the 2nd
half and the offense scored 17 points.
The Pirates come in
riding a 13-game winning streak. Their defense is one of the best in the state.
During the streak, they had a stretch of 11 straight games of not giving up
more than 7 points. For the year, they have only allowed and impressive 122 points,
(8 per game) coming into tonight’s game. Their offense is averaging 38 per
Two weeks ago, they
played Boswell at AT&T Stadium. Last week they played Poteet at the Star in
Frisco and tonight they are right back here at AT&T Stadium.
The Bearcats beat a good
Mesquite Poteet team in a game that was closer than the 38-14 win for Aledo.
The Bearcats have been fortunate in regards of not having to travel very much
in the playoffs.
Tonight’s opponent is the
Calallen Wildcats from Corpus Christi. The Pirates had a battle on their hands
last week to get here tonight. They squeaked out a 1- point win over College
Station 31-30 when College Station went for the win on a 2- point conversion
