From the Parker County Sheriff’s Office:

The Parker County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying human remains discovered Friday afternoon shortly after 1 p.m.

Two men traveling on Interstate 20, at the Parker/Tarrant County line, sustained a blowout on a trailer they were pulling with their vehicle. After calling for a service truck, the men, who are falconers, decided to exercise the falcons. One of the falcons flew out of range, and the owner followed it as he came across a human skull near a wooded area.

Parker County Crime Scene investigators and the crime scene technician processed the scene, collecting evidence including another possible human bone found about 20-feet away from the original location of the skull.

Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said the remains have been submitted to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office to be examined by their forensic anthropologist.

Sheriff’s Crime Scene Technician Heather Huffman said the skull has previous extensive damage to the left side of the inner orbital socket, and to the maxilla and zygomatic facial bones.

“There have been surgical repairs made following previous damage including metal mesh and surgical screws implanted in the skull,” Huffman said. “We did not recover the lower mandible and no additional bones were discovered at the scene.”

Parker County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigators are seeking the public’s help in identifying a human skull containing surgical mesh and screws from previous extensive damage or injuries.

Limited information is known at this early stage in the investigation.

“We’re not certain at this time if the remains are male or female, or of a specific time, manner or cause of death,” Sheriff Fowler said. “Any answers at this point in the investigation would be pure speculation.”

Sheriff’s CID investigators are working diligently to match any area, state or federal missing persons cases to the remains.

“This investigation is ongoing,” Fowler said. “No further information will be released pending the Medical Examiner’s forensic tests.”

Anyone who can assist in the identification of the remains is encouraged to call the Parker County Crime Stoppers Hotline at (817) 565-5555, or the Parker County Sheriff’s Office at (817) 594-8845.
