Coming off a sweep in the bi-district playoff round, the state-ranked No. 7 Aledo Ladycats have advanced to the second round and will face Richland in a Class 5A, Region I area championship match.
The first serve will be at 6:30 p.m. today at Brewer High School.
The Ladycats have a 36-8 record and are coming off a 25-10, 25-13, 25-12 victory over Denison in the opening round of the playoffs.
Richland, 20-19, reached the area championship after a 25-11, 25-16, 25-20 win over Fort Worth Western Hills.
The two teams played each other in the final match of non-district play. The Ladycats swept the Rebels, 25-21, 25-14, 25-18.
The winner of the match will advance to the regional quarterfinals and face the victor of the Denton Ryan/Grapevine area round match.
