Hawks fly past Bearcats, 71-39; Ladycats fall at Stephenville

Birdville went on a 23-0 run in the second quarter en route to a 71-39 win over the Aledo Bearcats Tuesday night in a boys' non-district basketball game at the Aledo High School gym.

Ayden Smith led the Bearcats with seven points, with Cam Caldwell adding six. Both Smith and Caldwell each pulled down six rebounds to lead the 'Cats on the boards.

Birdville led 13-9 after the first quarter and 36-15 at the half. The Hawks scored 19 points in the third period while holding the Bearcats to 15 to take a 55-30 lead into the fourth quarter.

Stephenville 52, Ladycats 32

Stephenville jumped out to an 11-2 lead and never looked back as the Honeybees defeated the Aledo Ladycats, 52-32, Tuesday night in a girls' non-district basketball game at Stephenville.

Chloe Mefford led the Ladycats with eight points, with Elizabeth Allanach and Riley Sale each adding six.

Stephenville led 11-2 after the opening quarter and built a 29-12 lead at the break. The 'Bees outscored Aledo 11-10 in the third period to take a 40-22 lead into the fourth quarter.
