Webb denied parole in reversal by board

Posted

From the desk of Assistant Parker County District Attorney Jeff Swain:

"Earlier today, I received word that the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles had rescinded their prior decision granting John Paul Webb parole and denied his parole. After hearing about the parole board’s decision earlier this month, our community really responded to our call for letters and emails protesting the decision.  We recently sent them letters from our office, the victim’s mother, law enforcement and about 50 letters and emails from members of the public asking parole authorities to keep Mr. Webb in prison for as long as possible in light of the circumstances of the case.  We appreciate the community stepping up to help us do justice in this case and the parole board for their willingness to reconsider their decision.  The revised parole determination means that Mr. Webb will remain in prison at least until he comes up for parole in October, 2017.  At that time, the parole board will again decide his fate.  However, unlike the initial determination this time, they will have a good sentiment of how the victim’s mother, law enforcement, and the Parker County community feel about his release."
