Aledo won the coin toss but deferred to the 2nd half, this is one of the nicest stadiums in Texas. The Mansfield staff are some of the most helpful and pleasant to be around. Big “Thank you” from The Community News! It’s time for kick off!!!!!!
time Aledo played a team from Mansfield it did not end well for the Bearcats.
Aledo lost to Mansfield Lake Ridge last year in the state semi-finals. These
two teams can score a lot of points in a short amount of time, again the old cliche will be in play tonight, “defense wins’ championships”. Aledo’s defense
had an interception at the 5-yard line with 19 seconds left in their first game
to secure the win. Aledo’s defense should be up to the task to keep the high
scoring Broncos “in the stalls” (Sorry, I couldn’t help it. It sounded funnier
an hour ago!)
Rosson has 12 receptions for 137 yards. Even though he has not found the end
zone this year, Rosson has been the receiver to count on to move the sticks.
Preston Jefferis is the deep threat. He has only 6 receptions but he leads the
team with 162 yards, a 27 yard per catch average, and 2 scores.
Carter has made the most of his opportunities when called on to make a play. He
has 5 catches for 92 yards but 3 of those receptions have been for touchdowns.
offense starts with senior quarterback and captain Dillion Davis. Davis is off
to a fantastic start, averaging 273 yards passing a game. He has thrown for 6
touchdowns and only 1 interception.
backfield senior Michael Jordan has been the workhorse so far. Jordan is
averaging 130 yards per game with 4 rushing scores and almost 10 yards a carry.
When Davis goes to the air the Bearcats offensive line has given him time to
find the open receivers.
offence is centered around senior quarterback Kendall Catalon. Kendall is
extremely versatile and takes what the defense gives him. He has a good
offensive line and a very talented running back, Kameron Session, who is
averaging 153 yards rushing.
Tonight’s match-up is an early season test for both teams. Both come in with a 2-0 record.
Aledo is averaging 53 points a game and allowing just 21. The Broncos are just
as potent in both categories. Averaging 47 points a game and allowing 24.
For me, the
rankings need to have more clarification on how they come to their conclusions
on school’s rankings. I feel that you should not lose your status until you
lose. Keep the “strength of schedule” out of the equation, this is high school,
Bearcats versus the Mansfield Legacy Broncos. Aledo started the season as the
#2 ranked Class 5 A team in Texas. Even though they have not lost a game they
are now ranked #5.
