Bearcats hit field today for first practice of 2016

Posted

The sounds of football were alive and well this morning at Bearcat Stadium.

Whistles blew, coaches shouted instruction and footballs cut through the morning air with the thuds of a completed pass from a receiver's hands echoing off the stadium walls as the Aledo Bearcats worked out as a team for the first time in preparation for the 2016 season.

The Bearcats, under UIL mandate, will practice again on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - with practices beginning at 7:20 a.m. - in shorts and helmets. Friday will be the first day the Bearcats can practice in full pads.

The Bearcats will end the week with an intrasquad scrimmage Saturday morning at Bearcat Stadium.

The varsity will scrimmage at 9:45 a.m. The freshmen will begin the scrimmage at 8 a.m. followed by the junior varsity at 8:30 a.m.

Aledo 6-6, 335-pound senior offensive lineman Chuck Filiaga (66), a transfer form California, enjoys his first-ever practice as a Bearcat Monday morning at Bearcat Stadium.
