Goings records double digits in kills to help Red team to win over Blue at TGCA All-Star Game

Posted

Aledo hitter Maddie Goings sent down 12 kills and added a pair of blocks to help the Red team defeat the Blue team, 24-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-22, 15-10 Wednesday night at the Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star Volleyball Match at Arlington High School.

"It was an honor to play in this game," Goings said. "I watched a lot of girls from Aledo play in this game over the years and I have always wanted to play in it. I feel like I played OK tonight, but it was just a lot of fun to play with and against all these good girls."

Goings had four kills in a critical fourth game that saw the Red team square the match. The Red team led from start to finish in the fifth and deciding game.

The volleyball all-star game was part of the week-long TGCA annual clinic.

"It is an honor to have one of your girls play in this game, but it is extremely fun that it is my daughter as well," Ladycats head coach Kathy Goings said. "I think it was fun for Maddie to play with all these girls, and she was super pumped about playing in this game. This is a big deal, and it is the first year the juniors got to play."
