During the National Pharmaceutical Take Back April 30, law enforcement organizations throughout the nation took in 35,788 pounds of unwanted pharmaceuticals. This amount represents more than a 30-percent increase from last fall’s National Pharmaceutical Take Back event.
Aledo ISD’s Police Department, with the assistance of volunteers from Aledo High School’s chapter of Health Occupations Students of America, collected seven large boxes with 115 pounds of unwanted pharmaceuticals. Rather than enter our ecosystem subsequent to improper disposal, those drugs have been safely destroyed by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Another National Pharmaceutical Take Back event is anticipated next September/October.
