Ladycats take bi-district series opener with 14-0 win over Fort Worth North Side

Aledo smashed 10 hits and took advantage of six Fort Worth North Side errors as the Ladycats eased past the Lady Steers, 14-0, Thursday night at North Side High School in the opening game of a Class 5A best-of-3 bi-district series.

Game two of the series is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday (April 29) at Aledo High School.

Hannah Andrews was the winning pitcher for Aledo. The junior allowed just one hit and two walks while striking out 12 in a game called on run rule after five innings.

Kadyn Kirkpatrick led the Ladycats at the plate with three hits - including a pair of doubles - while driving in three runs.

The Ladycats led 1-0 before scoring five runs in the top of the third inning to increase their lead to 6-0. The big hit in the frame was a two-RBI double by Kirkpatrick.

The Ladycats sent 12 batters to the plate in the fourth inning and produced seven runs on seven hits. Hallie Smith, Andrews, Megan Reynolds, Landri Mays and Bailee Whitener each drove in a run in the inning, while two other runs scored courtesy of an error and a wild pitch.

Aledo closed the scoring with a run in the fifth when Lindsey McElroy walked, advanced to second on a wild pitch, stole third base and  scored on a double by Kirkpatrick.
