Brown, Bearcats shut down Cleburne, 7-0; Ladycats take 3-2 win at Everman

Aledo junior pitcher Kannon Brown struck out six batters and allowed just two hits to lead the Bearcats to a 7-0 victory over Cleburne Tuesday night in a District 8-5A game at AHS.

The win raises the Bearcats' district record to 5-2.

Brown allowed no runs and walked two in 6-1/3 innings. Jacob Ashkinos finished on the hill, striking out the only two batters he faced.

The Bearcats scored twice in the second inning, added two runs in the third and closed the scoring with three runs in the sixth.

Nick Cheema led the 'Cats at the plate with two hits, including a double, while driving in a run. The big run-producing hit in the game was a two-RBI single by Ashkinos in the third.

Hunter Rosson and Rhett Anderson each drove in a run, and a hard-hit ball off the bat off Michael Alvarez that was scored an error on the Cleburne first baseman also plated a pair of runs.

The Bearcats will continue district play at 7 p.m. Friday at home against Joshua.

Ladycats 3, Everman 2

In a District 8-5A softball game plated today at Everman, the Aledo Ladycats slipped past the Everman Lady Bulldogs, 3-2.

Megan Reynolds was the winning pitcher for the Ladycats, who raised their district mark to 7-3.
