Aledo High School advances eight to regional meet after area meet running finals; Jordan breaks school record in girls' 100

Aledo sprinter Kia Jordan won the girls' 100-meter dash with a school-record time of 11.79 and hurdler Preston Jefferis finished second in the boys' 110-meter hurdles and fourth in the 300 hurdles as the pair led a group of eight Aledo High School track athletes who advanced in running events to the regional meet after qualifying at the District 7-5A/8-5A Area Track and Field Meet Thursday night at Clark Stadium in Fort Worth.

The top four finishers in each event at the area meet qualify for the regional meet.

Aledo qualified nine athletes in field events to the regional meet on Wednesday. Harrison Tillman, who qualified for the regional meet Wednesday in the boys' 3,200-meter run, also qualified for the regional meet in the 1,600-meter run after finishing second today with a time of 4:30.93.

Jefferis ran a time of 15.12 in the 110-meter hurdles and clocked in at 41.49 in the 300-meter hurdles.

Other AHS athletes qualifying for the regional meet include Sierra White with a third-place finish in the girls' 100-meter hurdles (16.31), and Noah Collins in the boys' 400-meter dash (50.6).

Also, the Ladycats 4x100 relay team of Ellie Reese, Krissy Johnson, Tysley Valencia and Jordan qualified for the regional meet with a second-place finish (48.83).

The Class 5A, Region I Track and Field Meet will be held Friday and Saturday, April 29-30, at PlainsCapital Park/Lowrey Field in Lubbock.
