Aledo High School advances 24 athletes in 28 events to area meet

Aledo High School showed its track prowess at the District 8-5A meet as the Ladycats and Bearcats combined to qualify 24 athletes in 28 events to the District 7-5A/8-5A Area Track and Field meet.

The top four finishers in each event at the district meet qualify for the area meet.

The 7-5A/8-5A area meet will be held Wednesday and Thursday, April 20-21, at Clark Stadium in Fort Worth. The top four finishers in each event at the area meet advance to the regional meet.

The Bearcats won the 8-5A meet with the Ladycats finishing second. The finals of the meet were on Thursday at Owl Stadium in Joshua.

Aledo boys qualifying for the area meet include Wes Harris (shot put, discus), Harrison Tillman (1600, 3200), Preston Jefferis (110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, 4x400 relay), Brannon Webb (4x200 relay, 4x400 relay), Donnie Evans (100, 4x200 relay), Noah Collins (400, 4x400 relay), Beau Mask (4x200 relay, 4x400 relay), Hunter Rosson (4x200 relay), Cameron Bean (discus), Cody Bradford (high jump), Dan Clute (pole vault), Brevin McCoy (pole vault), T.J. Zalar (pole vault) and McKenzie Haney (long jump).

Aledo girls qualifying for the area meet include Reagan Brown (3200, 1600), Rebecca Bills (4x100 relay, 4x200 relay), Tysley Valencia (4x100 relay), Ellie Reese (4x100 relay, 4x200 relay, long jump), Kia Jordan, 4x100 relay, 100, 4x200 relay, long jump), Sierra White (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, pole vault), Krissy Johnson (4x200 relay), Erin Weiss (discus, shot put), Alaina Touchet (shot put) and Mackenzie Lyon (pole vault).
