Weatherford Regional Medical Center celebrated “Doctors’ Day” on Wednesday, March 30 at its medical education classrooms with a fiesta-style luncheon. Each physician received a special gift as a token of appreciation. Top physicians were presented with special awards.

STAMATISPhysician of the Year – Stephen Stamatis, M.D.

The 2016 Physician of the Year is Dr. Stephen Stamatis, Weatherford OB/Gyn. He has been on staff at WRMC since July 2007 and has made a great impact on his patients, fellow physicians, and hospital and clinic staff that he works with daily. He is described as meticulous in his practice, and as an excellent teacher. His practice engages with patients and their families by sponsoring a “birthday party” each year to reconnect with the babies they have delivered. Dr. Stamatis is active on several hospital committees and will begin his tenure as Chief of Staff in January 2017.


MUTCHLERCommunity Physician of Excellence – Michael Mutchler, M.D.

Dr. Michael Mutchler was awarded the 2016 Community Physician of Excellence. He is an Internal Medicine physician that practices in Weatherford with Lone Star Medical Group. Dr. Mutchler has been active in the area since January 2009. His patients describe him as “A great doctor that takes the time to listen to my concerns and explains my care in depth.” Also noted by his staff, “He is the most caring physicians I have ever worked for. He’s compassionate and understanding with all his patients. He truly cares about them all.”


GARMON

Legacy Award – Robert Garmon, M.D.

2016 is the first year for the Legacy Award, it is granted to physicians with great tenure and impact on the medical community and patient care. The 2016 recipient is Dr. Bob Garmon, local pulmonologist who has been on active staff at WRMC since November 2000. He was the only pulmonologist in the community for many years, caring for many patients and their facilities. He is noted as always treating patients, families, and staff with courtesy and respect. His patients have been the beneficiary of his time, attention, and skill for many years. Dr. Garmon has created a legacy of excellence and devotion to all he has served.
